Michael Mosley, missing British TV doctor, found dead in Greece after days-long search

A body believed to belong to British television presenter Michael Mosley was found on a Greek island, ending a days-long search.
"It's devastating to have lost Michael, my wonderful, funny, kind and brilliant husband," Mosley's wife, Dr. Clare Bailey Mosley, said in a statement, according to Reuters. "We had an incredibly lucky life together. We loved each other very much."
Early Sunday morning, a body believed to be Mosley's was found in a rocky area close to the sea and a beach bar near Agia Marina in Symi, Reuters reports.
Police officials said a coroner ruled out foul play, but couldn't determine the cause of death. His body was transferred to the neighboring Dodecanese island of Rhodes, where more tests will be done.
"It is certainly him," Nikitas Grillis, the deputy mayor of Symi, said while officials wait for formal identification of the body.

How was Michael Mosley found?
The body was discovered after Symi Mayor Lefteris Papakalodoukas, journalists from state TV channel ERT and others filmed the area from a vessel, said Papakalodoukas.
"We analyzed the recorded evidence, and it was obvious that it was, unfortunately, Mosley," said Papakalodoukas.
He was found lying with his face up and his head on a rock, ERT reported, according to Reuters.
When did Michael Mosley go missing?
Mosley went missing on Wednesday after he went for a walk on Agios Nikolaos beach in Greece, the BBC reports.
Who was Michael Mosley?
Mosley hosted television programs on biology and medicine, including the BBC series "Trust Me, I'm a Doctor" and "The One Show."
According to his Instagram account, he also invented the 5:2 diet, presented BBC's Just One Thing radio broadcast and published books on health and dieting.
According to Good Reads, he most recently published "Just One Thing: How Simple Changes Can Transform Your Life," in 2022.
He began his work for the BBC in 1985, per his biography at Good Reads. He produced and presented documentaries on science and health throughout his career with the broadcaster.
Social media reacts to Michael Mosley's death
Many have left comments on his Instagram account, mourning his loss following the news.
"Totally sad to hear the news that Dr Mosley's body has been found," commented one user on a photo posted to the account. "I've never been sad about the death of (a) famous person who I'd never met until now."
People offered their condolences on his wife's account.
"Sending you so much love, Clare. I’m absolutely heartbroken for you and your family," commented a user on a video Mosley posted of a brownie recipe from her cookbook. "I loved Michael and will continue to be inspired by him for as long as I live."
